Marettimo ist die wildeste und natürlichste der Ägadischen Inseln. Sie ist am weitesten vom Sizilianischen Festland entfernt (18 Seemeilen von der Westküste) und umgeben von kristallklarem, tiefblauen Meer. Ein kleines Fischerdorf am Fuße des Berges stellt die einzige Besiedlung der Insel dar und ist Ausgangspunkt für Badevergnügen, Bootstouren, Spaziergänge oder auch anspruchsvolle Wanderungen zu Fuß, mit dem Mountainbike oder auf dem Rücken eines Esels.
Eine besondere Attraktion Marettimos sind die zahlreichen Grotten, Steilhänge und Buchten entlang der Küste, die Abenteuer und Erholung für Erwachsene und Kinder gleichermaßen bieten: in die Kamelgrotte schlängelt sich das Boot bei der Inselrundfahrt im Halbdunkel in den Fels hinein, bevor sich der Blick gen Himmel wieder öffnet und eine kleine Bucht mit weißen Kieselsteinen und azurblauem Wasser auftaucht; der feine Sandstrand im Innern der Grotte der Verliebten hingegen ist nur zu Fuß durch einen dunklen Felsengang erreichbar um in die Kuppel-Grotte zu gelangen, ist sogar ein kurzes Stück unter Wasser zu überwinden. Die Aussicht mit Taucherbrille auf Felsformationen und farbenfrohe Fische ist einzigartig eine Unterwasserkamera lohnt sich.

The island of Marettimo is the most distant and wildest among the islands of the Aegadian archipelago, about 18 nautical miles away from Sicilys west coast.
